First TF that started your collection

What was the first transformer which started your whole collection. That one single figure that turn to many many figures right now. What made that transformer unique that made you want to be a transformer collector, doing it as hobby, or just like transformer in general because of this .

Re: First TF that started your collection

Alt Jazz, Alt Tracks and Alt Grimlock at $10 each from Wal-Mart in September of 2005. Bought the 3 of them at once, so the trophy goes to all 3.

I used to have TFs as a kid, but since I was a kid, I couldn't say I actively "collected"; rather, I would take what I could get as gifts and stuff from parents. So I don't count my vintage G1s that I got as a child. My first one as a kid would've been G1 Astrotrain, if I remember correctly.

Re: First TF that started your collection

As a kid, it was Armordillo. As a Collector (of sorts) it was Alt Tracks and BW10th Tarantulas.

BM Striker was my first. I don't have that anymore though. Otherwise, it's Optimal Optimus or Armada Optimus Prime; I can't remember which I got first.

Re: First TF that started your collection

Well i had like 2 phases. Not so much as a kid....but when i was in college i was watching BW and started with Optimus Primal then the rest of the gang. Then it stopped for a few years and then it was Classics Prime, a few months before the TF Movie. Then it my true TF Soul was unleashed!! lolzz!!!

Re: First TF that started your collection

G1 Thundercracker back in 1984 when I was about 8 years old. My grandma bought it for me right before a dentist appointment she was taking me to. I still remember being in such awe of it - "a fighter jet AND a warrior robot!?!". It was the single coolest thing I'd ever seen... and made me pretty much instantly forget about my Star Wars & He-Man toys. It was an immediate obsession that only became worse when I came home one day after school to find that there was also a cartoon. Thankfully the combination of being an only child and my parent's thinking that TF's "were good for me" because they were like puzzles gave way to me ending up with a very healthy collection very quickly. I can still remember trips to the toy store and getting all the Constructicons & Dinobots in one shot - back when they were available everywhere from Home Hardware to IGA of all places. And the X-Mas that I found Omega Supreme under the tree... I still have flashbacks to that day

Fast forward over 20 years later, it was a combination of MP Prime and Dreamwave's resurrection of G1 that got me actively paying attention again, and it was Alt Hound & Classics 1.0 that officially got me back into collecting.
