Re: Are you fan of TF that get repainted in different series and than get rename?
I think from a business standpoint, repaints have become sort of a necessity to offset mold costs. Which means that we're going to get some repaints that are obvious, like cliffjumper and skywarp, some repaints that we may not even care about, like nemisis prime / white magnus, and some that come right out of left field, like say Roadbuster Magnus or Blazing Lockdown. Some are bound to be interesting, especially if the mold is good to begin with, but others are bound to just shelfwarm. Its a chance to bring in new characters who may not have had a chance at life otherwise, as well as to bring back old favorites who might not have the popularity to warrant a figure of their own. I think its a gamble on the part of Hasbro, and as you can see by reading this thread, no matter what, reactions are going to be mixed.
At the very least, the shelfwarming repaints provide good kitbash fodder.
