Re: Grinds my gears!!!!!!

I clearly understand and totally agree with what bigwillay is saying from his original posting!! I have been enjoying the hobby for about 7 years with countess positive transactions, made lots of friends including a wolf pack(who know who you are!!) and have pretty amazing reputation in the community. I take pride in my feedback thread. I do have a small collection and take pride in it - if bigwillay is soooo anal about the way he handles his collection/figures - I really wonder what that makes me!!

Now topic at hand...

Over the years, I did received some pretty freaking nasty figures. As a seller you have responsibilities to be clear in the condition of each item that you are selling. Also as a buyer you have responsibilities to ask questions about the condition of the item of interest HOWEVER if you are being lied too about the condition well that is a total different issue. I will say that some of the figures that I received did take much longer then others to clean ex: 3rd party/MPs size figures with lots of panels and crazy designs does indeed take much longer time to clean...and for the record white isn't yellow in my opinion - dust caked on figures is disgusting so as figures smelling like cigarettes smokes!! Hence the "BUYER BEWARE" policy!!

The way I approach all my transactions is to sell/trade/present figures is the same way that I want to receive them. I work really hard to earn my paycheque and getting a nasty unkept figure as a treat isn't rewarding at all!!

I guess and appears that not all collectors have the same pride and standard in collecting that some of us are applying collecting!!

Re: Grinds my gears!!!!!!

But what is a lie? Intentional deception.
Did this seller intentionally decieve the buyer? I mean he showed up in person with the figure to inspect. Deception wouldn't really be the case here, especially if his concept of mint isn't the same (as it's apparent here) as the buyer. There's no indications mentioned of any physical wear and tear, just dust. And dust that wasn't visible on the outside as mentioned by the buyer. Showing that if accurate, it likely spent it's days in bot mode on a shelf. One could say that's mint and be well intentioned as it gets.
And a highly scrutinizing collector not having a good enough look to see any dust in it or on it that's the source of contention? I just ain't buying it.
Do I believe there was dust in it? Yes.
Do I believe it's as bad as the buyer claims? No.
To me it seems like the seller had every intention of a decent transaction. And it seems like the buyer has the intention of exaggerating the severity of the pieces condition to justify the complaint.
It's an elaborate claim, with several discrepancies, with zero pictures. One would think in those 2 1/2 hrs someone that annoyed would take a few photos if the tendency was to rant online about it.

Based on these observations, and only heresy, I'd have to put the fault on the buyer. I see no fault here on the seller whatsoever.

Re: Grinds my gears!!!!!!

Valid points all around.

But really, I think BW's post was really a rant about a peeve about an aspect of collecting and transactions, and not really laying blame, or accusing a seller of lying or shadiness.

It's like: "Good golly, I wish this seller would have taken better care of this item, or made a better effort to clean it a bit before selling it."

Venting disappointment.

And, really, I can understand that, and maybe BW's post might influence/encourage sellers here to take that bit of extra time to dust off their figures to be sold in order to make a transaction a little more pleasant.

Re: Grinds my gears!!!!!!

You can't spend 3 hrs cleaning a "poor" grade comic to make it mint.

Imo, a dusty toy is still mint. Take a toothbrush and a minute and it is clean.

I don't understand why you're trying so hard to make the OP seem deceptive, 79transam. You don't believe him? Ok, just say so and leave it at that.

Re: Grinds my gears!!!!!!

I'm just being logical here because it appears to me someones getting bullied.
Someone isn't anally retentive about cleaning inside the ratchets and for some odd reason, several people are willing to judge the person who hasn't even had a chance to defend themself.
And the OP reeks of BS.

And to honest here, this really grinds my gears.
