Re: Reissues Vs. Original
I guess it all depends on what you're trying to go for. Some people like collecting purely original G1 toys for collection/resale value and some just want a good condition of the G1 toy to play and fiddle around with.
For me, I don't have a particular preference as long as the toy is in good condition, complete and within a reasonable price range. I'd rather get a new shiny reissue Prime for under 90 bucks than to get a 100+ dollar G1 original Prime.
If you don't like the reissue accessories and parts, you can get the original parts at a parts party or at TFCon. It'll be far cheaper doing that than trying to buy a mint original G1 version of the toy.

Re: Reissues Vs. Original
Reissues are a more affordable way to get a great-condition G1 figure. If you're wanting your collection to be "historical," that's fine, it's your collection and you can collect what makes you happy. For me, I just want a representation of the character in nice shape for a decent price, and my collection is a mix of G1 originals, reissues, and Classics.

Exactly what proto said and raizen too.
I looooove re-issues, cuz its like getting a mint, brand new toy, just like i would have gotten in 1984!
And I loooove those knockoffs, to me they are "originals or high quality re-issues"... I love the G1 package mint in box feel. I recently picked up a protectabot giftset, and am absolutely stoked!
speaking of which, if anyone has a k/o G1 mib prowl, springer, cyclonus, or scourge pls pm me! thx

Re: Reissues Vs. Original
Ya the High Quality Shockwave KO Is pretty awesome, for $50 + Shipping it is like having an original G1 Shockwave in Box. Looks great.
Sure it's not the "real" thing, but Im using it for display and it sure looks like the real thing and since im not reselling, that's all I really care about.

^same with reflector $200+ or $60, might eventually replace it but right now, not worried

Re: Reissues Vs. Original
I'd rather go reissue than KO, that's for sure.
Usually there aren't much differences to warrant a decision.
Obviously its easier to get a MISB or MOSC reissue. And its easier to get a complete reissue in good condition.
But in the case where there are differences, I'm on the fence.
I mean, vintage Megatron is just slightly different enough that he can't use the reissue stock, scope, and silencer (I've got both, the loose fit and stress marks prove it). But if you've got a complete vintage or complete reissue, who cares.

Yeah I hear ya man, I used to be down on KO's but 70 bucks as opposed to 300 for a mint Shockwave is more in my price range LOL! as long as the KO's are good quality and don't fall apart. I have KO's of Black Optimus Prime and Sunstreaker and they are pretty good overall.

Re: Reissues Vs. Original
I think there's lot of weirdos like me that flat-out prefer reissues too. Some examples:
The Takara bumblebee reissue with the correct face is way better than the original, IMHO
I just got an iGear Rager which is a much better figure than a Pipes or a Huffer
I like the PE Scout Force better than any offcial issue of Reflector too. In fact, PE Scouting Force might be my favorite toy ever.
Omega Supreme reissue? Yeah, I like the face better, so check!
It's all a matter of taste, but some of the reissues are even improvements over the originals

I think the bookstyle Kup reissue is an example of this - it comes with both his gun and targetmaster! Better than either of the originals, am I right?
