This is me, I'm only 6', but I *don't* get hassled, 'cept by the cops. [The hat & T in this pic are both Autobot branded, btw.]
Oddly enough, a little kid in an Optimus Prime costume [no less], thought this was my Halloween costume, but in reality I had just returned from buying my pumpkins at Walmart. [I took this pic just to see the 'biker outfit' he thought it was - and added the Butcher's Blade for effect.]

I don't have a car at the moment, but I'm always wearing one of my 50+ Transformers T-shirts, as I feel naked if I'm not branded. And, if I'm not branded - it's a good bet I actually *am* naked. I never leave the house without a TF Logo or Character somewhere on me. Even at a buddy's recent wedding, I was wearing my TF boxers under my suit.
A guy in line at TFcon once said, "I wouldn't be caught dead in a TF shirt, nobody can call me a geek that way." I replied, "I'd like to see someone try - and leave with their teeth."
Transformers are freakin' awesome, an' I'll always show my pride. Haters & cowards can bite my TF branded ass!

Funny. After I started wearing TF related apparel, I do feel naked without one. I miss my decepticon buckle. I might pass by that store again and buy another belt for my buckle.
I wore that cheap looking LED transforming Prime watch to work at some point. All the ladies loved it.

Re: Are you identifiable in public?
Probably more so now that I'm finally getting "nerd gear" as my wife would like to say but that would be rare random occasion or a local con.

I'm a little obsessive when it comes to collecting TF stuff, as I buy everything I see that's officially TF branded. Because of which, 1/4 of my 6000 piece collection is Paraphernalia, which includes lots of apparel: I've got 7 watches [including the one you mentioned, which *is* cool], 4 kinds of Pajama pants, 5 pairs of boxers, some tighty-whities, 4 sweaters, hoodies, lots of socks, 2 pairs of shoes, boots, 2 sandals, 3 flip-flops, slippers, shorts, rings, wrist bands, bracelets, several necklaces [including a few of the Matrix], 6 belt buckles, 9 hats, 1 beanie, 6 pairs of sunglasses, and tons of T-shirts. There's probably a lot more I can't remember, as this was just off the top of my head, but you get the idea. {Most of which is available for viewing here: http://www.facebook.com/media/albums/?id=649073464}
I didn't bother mentioning all the costumes, masks, & helmets, as those *would* brand me a geek, ...if worn every day. XD

Re: Are you identifiable in public?
Although, if I had *this* costume, I would wear it every day!

It would certainly identify one as a Transformers Fan in public!

Re: Are you identifiable in public?
Hahaha.
Last week, at my wife's salon, I came in with my TFP Prime helmet (my first but certainly not the last).
Soooo much fun.

They are kinda fun, aren't they?! These are the only one's I've opened and assembled. [G1 Fan-Made and Movie Bee & OP{Chalk}] I still have yet to play with my other two OP helmets; DOTM {Cullen} & TFP.
What I need now is one of these torso T-shirts for my Op helmets, as I only have one for the Bee, but I'm speechless in it. XD
