Hello. 1st time poster here from calgary. Had a question you guys might be able to help me out with. I recently purchased most of the walmart reissues , only need devestator. These are the first transformers I have purchased since the mid to late 80's when I was a kid. I now have the itch to acquire the 3 that were my favorites from my childhood, soundwave, optimus and megatron. I would be looking to purchase original release g1. I have checked ebay completed sales and they are all over the map so I was hoping someone could give me a decent price range I'm gonna be looking at if I want to buy in box?

Prices are indeed all over the place because of various reasons like condition, popularity of the character, etc. I don't have a range for you but may be you can also checked the for sell listings here? Generally speaking if you want a mint in box piece it will cost more than a loose one of course and a mint in sealed box one (new) is even more so. Again condition play an important role in the pricing - even prices of a mint in sealed box piece can vary depends on the condition of the boxes. So it depends on what do you want to collect.

That's a loaded question, ranging anywhere from loose with play wear and incomplete to misb. Anyway you cut it, authentic G1, especially those three, could, I stress COULD, be quite costly. Be patient, shop around and research what you are cool with accepting quality wise. I have literally seen prices range from 35 for a pretty banged up g1 Soundwave to a few thousand for an AFA certified misb Optimus.

And beware of G1 Knock-offs. Educate yourself. There are a few resources on the Internet. Google something like G1 KO and read about it. You don't want to spend on something that is not authentic (unless this is your goal but I doubt this is what you are after).

thanks again for the excellent info , I'm definitely looking for decent shaped copies with boxes but not looking to break the bank on gem mint ones. gonna have to read up on how to tell a KO forsure.
