If anyone still needs a TakaraTomy Legends Arcee, AmiAmi and HLJ have preorders up and available for the August reissue/restock.

Re: BC Community Thread For Non-Sightings Chat

Here's a crazy question... does anyone collect or know about Canadian Military memorabilia? I bought a Postwar (possibly Korean War-era) battle dress jacket and I'm trying to figure out what the badges and ribbons mean and possibly how old it is. I'm having a heck of a time finding any comprehensive resources online.

Hadn't come across that specific page yet, thank you! already determined it's definitely from the Korean War, unless someone added ribbons later. Is there a similar page for patches/badges?

Re: BC Community Thread For Non-Sightings Chat

Thanks! Unfortunately the current Canadian Forces resources only help for some as they only list current awards. I may need to research British decorations since we were still very much part of the Commonwealth back then.

Interesting, so far it's someone who served in the Ordinance (supply) Corps, with awards for service during WWII, Korea, and Egypt and Sinai Emergency Forces under UN. One appears to be a standard Canadian Forces Decoration for those who served 12 years, although it has a small metal flower not present in the online images I'm seeing. One more I have yet to figure out... Really cool info, if all these ribbons are original to the jacket.

Re: BC Community Thread For Non-Sightings Chat

Got it at a vintage store in Victoria called Vintage Funk. Pretty cool place, lots of old interesting stuff of all kinds. They were having a clothing sale for 50% off so I got it for $60. Judging by eBay auctions I'm seeing it was a pretty good deal. Similar US Ike jackets cost less but the Commonwealth ones seem to go for more. Different materials/construction I think. Rarity may also be a factor, I'm sure US stuff is much more common in the market.

Cool that your family has your Grandfather's diary and photos. I don't have much connection to any of the wars myself. My grandfather wanted to serve for the RCAF in WWII but being of German-speaking descent he was prohibited from doing so. Probably for the best, otherwise there's a chance I might not be here! But I'm really interested in everything historical, especially if it's local somehow and have always been fascinated with everything military since I was a kid.

Bonus points if the jacket belonged to a Commander, right Kommander?
