Get Magnus, I can't stress that enough. Not only if he worth every bang for your buck (Compared to Optimus) but even in this unique situation, EDC Red Alert (Which works with Magnus better color wise) is cheaper and easier to find then Universe 2.0 Countdown (which is more intune with Optimus).

Strange, they gave magnus the sword optimus uses in FOC fighting megatron. I wonder if its like an extra piece to give optimus? buyers choice i guess.

True, I have a MISB one for sale...not very cheap. Unfortunately they were TRU exclusives up here, and I think I've only ever seen 2 in stores...

I picked up a loose once, therefore, selling my sealed one.

It's something Hasbro has been doing for the past couple of years, doing something to the repaint to convince the collectors to buy it again.

Normally Hasbro gets a mold, let's say a Van. Now clearly they could go with Ironhide, retool it for Ratchet........ but no, they will go with Towline or something more obscure for that FIRST release of that mold. Fans will buy the mold cause it's "a new fresh mold", customizers will buy it to MAKE an Ironhide, ect ect. After Hasbro has made their money from that run, then they release Ironhide with that mold..... and they get everyone's money again.

Now imagine if they did that, but backwards. Ironhide first THEN Towline....... no one would touch Towline. It's smart marketing.

It's the same thing with FOC. They could have given the sword to Prime....... and then give Magnus a different color sword LATER..... but then the special incentive to buy Magnus is gone (Not to mention they made more money with Prime with less plastic costs due to lacking a sword at the same price point as Magnus)

Again..... it's all smart marketing.

I saw that on TFW too a while back. It's pretty brilliant, and I like your tweaks better than the original. Nicely done.

What kind of head are you considering? You gonna make a "proper" Magnus out of this, or some new generic character? If you go Magnus, you might consider adding some cannons or something to give those arms that "weaponized" look.

Yeah, I figured that one out a while back... though of course you can never be sure if Hasbro will ever actually give you that obvious repaint you're waiting for. I feel like I've been burned before!

I'd like the head to look like it was tucked inside the body. It's hard to pull off since the legs are overly large and the arms are overly skinny. I get thrown off trying multple head.

I might go for a modified classics inferno head. I'm hesistating since I only have one extra left.

Tucked in look check. A tad too small. Really just a smidge too small.



Too big. It makes the entire bot look stumpy.

I sold you a white Prime?? I can't think of what that would have been, since Magnus/white repaints are usually somewhat rare. Weird.

I agree that a smaller head will work better... since this is clearly a battle-armour upgrade kind of thing, a smaller head will drive home the immensity of his augmented physical form.

What about the head from a Classics Blades (or C. Evac?). If you're going for a Magnus vibe, it's not bad. It's got the big crest in the centre of the head, and a firm, solemn jaw. I think it would look good with some added pipes/antennae on the side (magnus style). It's smaller than the Inferno head, but not tiny.
