I think Philosophy can be quite tough, for the reasons you mentioned. The plus side is that it can be re-applied to many other fields. The down side is that nobody cares about a degree in Philosophy (though I do have a friend who teaches ethics at CEGEP, with a Phd in Philly.

Yea I find philosohpy is sooo interconnected with other fields that it really bogs down the "philisophical" aspects of philosophy. In short its like taking math(logic), science(empiricism), history(pressocratics) etc, all in one. I prefer cultural classes myself, i think they point towards the most wisdom(for teaching purposes of course). And yes no one cares about philly degrees, cause technically we arent "useful" for todays progressive culture. (if anything we are quite harmful
)
Funny you mention Deleuze im actually taking a class on him right now focused on Nietzche. Kinda makes me feel better about having transformers. Nietzche talks about following your dionysian counter-part. And when looking at my figures, i say to myself, damn you dionysus you have made quite the impact on my wallet
