Experience with FedEx -- Can anyone share?
Anyone in Canada have experience using FedEx from HLJ or for an international parcel? I know UPS to be an absolute nightmare when it comes to brokerage fees, and will avoid them like the plague.
What's your experience with FedEx for international parcels?

Re: Experience with FedEx -- Can anyone share?
I used fedex once, from HLJ, and i have to say it was about the worst shipping I've ever dealt with. I found the regular postal service from them a lot faster.
Main problem was with the customs portion and trying to get it cleared, took about 2 weeks just for that.

Re: Experience with FedEx -- Can anyone share?
I haven't dealt with them, a friend used them to ship a package of figures to another friend. He requested a signature confirmation for delivery but they left the package on the front step and it was stolen, the guy wasn't even home from work when it was delivered. FedEx said that they had no record of "signature required" on his account but it was successfully delivered... so he fought with them for a few months and eventually got the insurance money back from them. I know that I will never use them because of that.
This was shipped Can (Ontario) to USA (Denver Colorado )

Two words. CHA CHING
Brokerage fees are very similar to UPS I've found from my dealings with them.

That's my experience as well.
edit. Any reason you didn't go with EMS for shipping?

UPS left a $250 RMA gpu in an unused front door in a pile of cobwebs. For a week. Claimed I signed for.
Fedex shipped a four foot tall 25 pound box and left it on the front porch out where anyone can see. Just sitting there. Knocked on the door and ran off.
Good companies, those two. Always quality service!

Re: Experience with FedEx -- Can anyone share?
I just got a package from Lewisville PA, only about a week to 10 days to arrive. They dropped it off in Moncton NB which switched it over to a local shipper and when it arrived here someone was here but didn't have to pay anything.
Other then the somewhat questionable packing no other problems.
But from the sounds of it I seem to have been lucky.

Re: Experience with FedEx -- Can anyone share?
I ordered from HLJ last month, and my bf did the same a few weeks ago. We both used FedEx for shipping (I didn't really have a choice due to the cost of my item), but neither one of us had a problem. It was less than $20 for the brokerage fees, and if no one was home, they took the package back with them and delivered the next day.

Re: Experience with FedEx -- Can anyone share?
FedEX is great. At first.
I had many orders from HLJ over the past few months, and all of them had either zero, or reasonable brokerage fees. Every package arrived SUPER fast, less than half the time it takes EMS shipping. Well, anyway, fast forward many weeks and I start getting letters saying I owe them money... but I paid you at the door?
Yeah, turns out, what was paid at the door was ONLY the brokerage, and these fees were from Canada Customs which "takes up to 30 days to process their fees"
Fuck FedEx...
