Poorly organized con: FAIL.
Increased ticket prices: FAIL.
No SDCC exclusives: FAIL.
Fan Expo, you...are...OUT!

Well as with any Cons it's usually the guests that convince me to go...in this year's case, it's Lance Heindricksen and Marina Sirtirs that convinced me to attend, I got a copy of Mass Effect that I'd love them to sign.

Re: Fan Expo 2011
They make it sound like it's the first time it happened.

Guess they didn't realize Toronto had this last year. (or nothing outside of USA really exists)
========================================
Anyways, on to this year...
JUST found out Shatner is coming this year!!! Couldn't get his auto last year because the line being too long.
They added Speed Dating to the show, I think it's hilarious.
Very interested in getting Michael Biehn and Gary Kurtz auto.

Re: Fan Expo 2011
Not to defend their pricing too much but the weekend pass of $80 for four days isn't that bad when it breaks down to $20 per day.
I'd just want to be sure that the guests will all be there Thursday as well before I plunked down for that day.
Fan Expo is likely getting too big for its own good. Not unlike SDCC I hear about the attendance numbers, see the lineups, hear about the complaints and just figure its not for me.
As much as I'd love to meet Anthony Daniels, 4 hours in an autograph line just isn't doable.

If Fan Expo isn't getting bigger, it would be hard to attact celebs, but I agree, the lineups are getting rediculous. I remember the first few times I went, the longest lineup was the buying of the tickets, the rest for celeb autos were small by comparison.
I doubt Anthony Daniels will be 4 hours...I think I only lined up for 10 min for Kenny Baker.
I wonder if one of these days, Fan Expo would be wise enough to use the entire convention center? That would eliminate a lot of the crowding. IMO.

You may find a vendor who has it for sale, I am hoping that'll be the case with DCUC Swamp Thing and Star Wars: Delta Squad. I am sure some vendor will have some SDCC 2011 exclusives for sale.

Re: Fan Expo 2011
This will be by second Fan Expo (first was last year) and if they drop the ball this year they've lost my business.
This year people plan on calling in the media on Saturday if things go the way they went last year..

Re: Fan Expo 2011
I've never been or even really heard that much about it (my friends aren't as geeky as me), so can someone please explain to me what happened last year to make it such a disaster?

They went over capacity. So if you got in and then went out for lunch there was a *huge* lineup to get back in. My girlfriend and I were in line for hours just to get in in the first place. Plus once you were in it was crazy packed. At some points if you went down to the panel rooms they actually made you wait before you could go back up to the dealer area due to the overcrowding. It was a right clusterf$%@.

Re: Fan Expo 2011
Yep they've been over selling for years apparently and they do no care according to most.
This year some people are willing to take it to the media and have contacted journalists to showcase what happens. That's if something like that happens this year..
