Targetmaster version or not?

What would you pick between the Targetmaster versions of Hot Rod, Cyclonus and Scourge and their regular versions? It kinda bugs me that you have to detach the head piece on Scourge to make room for the Targetmaster partner in alt mode...

Re: Targetmaster version or not?

Not....without they're easier to find and they only had their Targetmasters for 2 episodes...they didn't even have any character. Unless you're a completionist...Fudge'em

Re: Targetmaster version or not?

Without. The Scourge design alone is immoral cause you lose his cool head piece.

Re: Targetmaster version or not?

Well, that choice depends big time on whether you want to spend around $100-150 or $400+ total. Those targetmasters are the biggest hole in my US G1 collection at this point, I'd love to have them, but the price for what they are is YIKES.

Re: Targetmaster version or not?

I love me some Targetmasters...I really REEEEEALLY do. I have the regular and TM versions but, if I were only able to keep 1 version I would go regular release. Scourge, especially, is ridiculously expensive. I lucked out as i got Fracas in a lot and bought the body seperately for a good price.

Re: Targetmaster version or not?

I would go for target masters at first wasn't fond of them but they kinda grow on you,... hot rods the best in my opinion and the molds were slightly altered to accomodate the little partners for the completest.

Re: Targetmaster version or not?

I perfer the targetmaster hot rod and cyclonus but as for scourge, the price is just stupid so with that figure i would stay with first (un-targetmastered) version of scourge.

Love the figures (targetmasters) but money is the big thing to consider.

Good luck!

Re: Targetmaster version or not?

I had no idea the targetmaster versions of these characters were so expensive. This makes me appreciate the G1 TM Cyclonus I found at that yard sale a month back.

I say it depends. The TM versions are nice because the targetmasters themselves are fun little figures but if the non TM versions are cheaper and easier to find than go for it! But I have to say that it's pretty cool to display the G1 TM Cyclonus next to his Universe/Classics version.

It's weird, though. The TM Cyclonus I got also came with his instruction sheet and original gun. The gun can't fit in his hands since they were re sized to fit his targetmaster but the instructions still list the gun as one of his accessories.

Re: Targetmaster version or not?

I have TM Hot Rod, Blur, and Orion Pax who is TM Kup, and Triggerhappy.

Hot Rod is nice because they didn't have to drastically alter him to add the TM gimmick to him, and the TM Kup mod is fairly un-obtrusive since it pegs into his "flat bed" area.
But all the others look kinda dumb with these big guns mounted on them. Even the Classics Cyclonus looks dumb in vehicle mode with Nightstick attached.

I love the Targetmasters, I just wish it could have been implemented differently somehow.

Re: Targetmaster version or not?

Well, problem solved for now, looks like the guy is going to sell the toys to someone else. Dang. I'll probably wait for TFcon instead.
