I developed a system like this a couple of years ago, after I decided that I didn't want to stay trapped in a cycle of mindless accumulation forever (I was starting to feel a bit crowded!).

I've been selling a lot of things, devided by hobby catagory (mainly TF's, action figures, gaming). Then if I sell something from those catagories, or anything else, I put that money back into the related hobby. It generally works pretty well, and has forced me to become better at getting my stuff sold, however I need to. It's just really frustrating when you have a big ticket item you want to buy, but just can't sell one of your big ticket items to pay for it. :/

I got two side hobbies and with both of them neither will ever make the zero mark. LOL I will always be in the red for spending.
