Man vs Food ??

Has anyone seen this show? Buddy is Glutinus Prime.

If you had a chance to go all out on food challenge what would pick and why?

Mine would be a pizza challenge. Its rediculas how much pie I can eat... LOL

What boggles me is why this is on the Outdoor Life Network (OLN)

Re: Man vs Food ??

I think the only foods that I can eat ridiculous amounts of are some of the things my mom makes herself:
- steamed pork buns
- dumplings
among other things she makes.

I konw I wouldn't be able to eat insane amounts of "commercial" food; too much oil and usually too salty for me to eat too much of it...

Sushi, namely negitoro cone and salmon sashimi don.

Hot (temperature-wise) food infuriates me. Or rather, burning the skin off the roof of my mouth unfuriates me.

All You Can Eat sushi is big here on the West Coast. I'm pretty sure the mercury levels in my body reach near-fatal whenever we hit up an A.Y.C.E. sushi joint.

It's big around here too,but yeah, for some reason every time he does a sushi challenge on the show, its spice based and he seems to have a pretty low tolerance for spice (or maybe he just plays it up for good tv). The other thing my friends and I notice watching the show is that he really does seem to be interested in quantity over quality. Like, they picked him for this job because dude LOVES food. Greasy, gross looking burger, giant omlette that's basically just egg and milk, he doesn't care, so long as its big. Or maybe hes a gourmand and, again, plays it up for TV.

I've always wondered how much time he gets to rest between challenges, or if he's stuffing himself every day of the year (at least during filming season).

Re: Man vs Food ??

I could understand why OLN was showing until I found out it is a Travel Channel produced show of his American culinary journey. He does promote each towns best of the best for local dining experiences. I think thats cool to promote the local places instead of the big box restaurants like McD's

I love this show. The food he gets to eat always looks great. I wish I could travel just to eat. Don't know how long he'll live though.

Re: Man vs Food ??

Whenever I go on a trip to the states, I always look up Man vs. Food or Triple D to see what are the good local eats there.

Beats trying to find a place when I get there.

He did a spicy challenge, 10 sushi hand cones that get hotter and hotter. If you complete all 10 in one sitting, you get a head band and every time you go into that restaurant the workers have to bow to you. PIMP!

Re: Man vs Food ??

Yeah, that one was pretty cool. But it seems like most of the time he goes into a sushi place its always the same challenge (which seems like every 3rd or 4th episode for me) as that, and the "spice" is always like "this is our 2nd most spicy sushi, it uses this ultra-spicy chili sauce known as sricha..." and then I get enraged because everyone I know eats that stuff like it ain't no thing at all. I wanna see this dude contend with like a Guatemalan Insanity Pepper Maki or something.
