Monstructor (WIP) - Pic Heavy
Yeah, I'm starting another one . I wanted to give the combiner concept another shot after gaining a bit more experience...especially after Devastator.
The idea behind this is to adapt each into my own visual style - obviously - so that means lots of vents, hoses and not your traditional G1 Pretender robot body shapes.....oh and no pretender shells. Sorry.
So far I only have progress on Wildfly, so here ya go!
"Monster bird" mode, mostly to show off the bird feet being able to withstand the weight of the body
Close up of the leg with bird foot. Yes, that's the thigh joint from Classics Tank Megatron....who knew it'd be useful for something eh?
Universe Razorclaw's tail should look cool on him. Can't have a bird without tail feathers

Re: Monstructor (WIP) - Pic Heavy
you beat me to it!!!(i want to build a monstructor too, same thing though,no shells)
neato concept so far and i'm definately interested in seeing how you combine them together and what other molds you're choosing to go with.
(i also spy with my little eye the nova prime in the background looks cleaner and less fudgy/gloppy primered if that makes sense? )

Re: Monstructor (WIP) - Pic Heavy
Looks great so far!!, those Dark steel voyager wings look good on that deluxe of AS.
Still haven't tackled my first combiner, but have 2 I want to do!
On a side note I think your NP could use some Ankle tilt , Is that possible or just a pipe dream?

Re: Monstructor (WIP) - Pic Heavy
OKAY.....I had one of those change of plans, which happened to occur in line waiting for OCC.
Basically, G1 Slog's combined torso mode has a shape that is eerily similar to that of Combiner Wars Prime when you don't open his chest. It's spiraled out of control from there.
I decided to use Firefly as Wildfly, and Armada Megatron's head as a base for the Monstructor combiner head.
And yes, the articulation still remains from stock, and will have the elbow as well
And Slog's monster head will be a modified FoC Grimlock head
EDIT: 10 hours later....
Bit better look at Combiner torso mode
Slog's robot mode
....Yeah any suggestions how to make this monster mode look better, I'll take them gladly
Wildfly V.2 robot mode
Wildfly V.2 "bird" mode
Wildfly arm mode

Don't know what look/feel your going for ??
but I think (IMO) that if you were to loose grimmy's neck and toso and build out either side of his chest so he has no neck, it might give it more muscular look, and you might be able to store it in the chest ???
my 2 cents or 1.66 us cents
anyways looking good still

Re: Monstructor (WIP) - Pic Heavy
UPDATE: FEBRUARY 7TH, 2015
Sorta a mockup of my torso modes. Using Silverbolt as Birdbrain. (This isn't indicative of the final product....I still have to finish the method of combination between him and Slog)
better look at Birdbrain's torso mode. Decided to use the Combiner Wars system to make my job easier.
So I let the epoxy glue set on the thighs of Wildfly, and it worked perfectly. Here's his arm mode WIP....still need to design a connector for the Unicron hand
and here's his legs.....the epoxy was used to fuse the thigh ball sockets of CW Skydive to the classics seeker thighs....best results ever!
Decided to use Drag Strip as Bristleback, and the first order of business was giving him bestial legs. As you can see, the screw and washer is holding a ball joint, which will give him the use of Galaxy Force Fang Wolf's rear legs.
Finally found a use for Vertibreak's head!

Re: Monstructor (WIP) - Pic Heavy
looks good so far.
the only thing that stands out so far to me is slogs bot mode crotch, almost g1 megatron toy-ish.
any way to shave it down on the front a bit without messing with the internal gearing?
combiner torso mode looks nice and beefy so far, keep it up!
