Re: People Killed in the States on Black Friday
The Wal-Mart coportation is about to sign a large settlement cheque because of this, if I were the family of the poor person that passed away I would be going after the corporation ASAP.
But really, who would trample a person? I know I wouldn't, Mob mentality I guess.

I don't think Wal-Mart should held responsible for the acts of a bunch of mentally challenged shoppers. If I see a man lying on the floor, I won't step on him. But that's what those shoppers did.

Re: People Killed in the States on Black Friday
Sad news, indeed - but I hadn't noted it immediately, given that some others have had it rather poorly as of late...

Re: People Killed in the States on Black Friday
The thing is, when it comes to be getting trampled to death, the people actually doing the trampling often have no idea they're even stepping on someone due to being so caught up in the frenzied rush. I'm willing to be none of them had any idea it even happened until the scene cleared.
And hell yes, Walmart absolutely should be held accountable. If they can't maintain some sense of crowd control and have a proper game plan before opening the doors, then they should be held 100% liable. And they will be. Americans sue everyone for things like spilling hot coffee on themselves or slipping on a floor marked with a "Caution!" sign and somehow manage to win, so this most certainly won't be any exception. In fact, it's a rare instance where the payout will be totally justified.

Good point. Like when my buddy bumped into me in soccer and my ribs hurt so I went to the doctor, then a week later my buddy said "You got hurt?"
So while the tramplers had no idea, they all still joined a frenzied crowd and willingly gave up their control. That should be worth a 3rd degree manslaughter charge or something.

Re: People Killed in the States on Black Friday
Thats wild. Reminds me of the scalpers running to the toy isle a few years back........
Very sad stuff. Crowd control is obviously a big issue.

Re: People Killed in the States on Black Friday
This is disgusting to read about, but it's not entirely unpredictable...they should really try to be more careful somehow. I know Black Friday is big so maybe something could've been done to lessen the chance of this sort of thing happening you know.
