How exactly does price matching work if I bought the item online? Do I have to do it after the thing ships and I get it in-hand or what?

They can't make an online adjustment at the store level. You call their 800 number and they will do it over the phone. It takes a few days but you get an email when the refund has been processed. Have your receipt email handy for the order number. I've done it plenty.
It's possible though rare the csr puts up a protest. Persistence will work if you calmly explain it but I've generally found them very helpful.

Well, went in today. Amazing prices. $15 CW voyager, $8 CW deluxes, like $6 legends. Regular stuff on good sales as well.
Surprisingly my local TRU got a huge leader shipment including Magnus, Starscream, and some more Skywarps. Which are pretty well gone.

Thanks for the reply, this will be very helpful. I went and risked waiting until the sale started this morning to place my order, and the risk paid off as they were still in stock, but this is good to know for next time. Thanks again!

Has anyone tried and price adjusted their recent Wal-mart purchases, in-store and online? I didn't bother since it'd be a mess explaining and proving the actual price of any given Transformer (under $59.99) and showing them that it is in stock.
I also got to have Onslaught price partially adjusted (25% off $30) at a Sears and I didn't bother to stress that it is going for $15 on toysrus.ca (but out of stock). Somehow I said nothing about Scattershot (which is not seen on toysrus.ca).
However, I did manage to get some in-store purchases in the past two months adjusted from Toys "Я" Us. I even got to return an opened package. Everything went smoothly there.
