Walmart Selections of Toy Clearance items
Hi everyone,
I wanted to share some information I have received (from sources in Management) about why certain Walmart stores mark things down on clearance and others don’t. Walmart Canada marks down certain products nationwide but it also gives each store a clearance budget to do with as it sees fit. An example is in Ontario, products move at a higher pace, therefore more sales and a higher clearance budget among other things. In NB stores, products move at a slower pace so a lower clearance budget is allotted. That is why a Walmart store in one town will have one price and another store 15 minutes away could have the same product on clearance. I thought I would share this info with the Canadian TF community because lately many people in different provinces have raised issues and reported different clearance prices on the same products. I hope this info helps clear up some of the confusion.
Peace!

Interesting.. Because I keep checking on MP Skywarp here and he's still $50 and been that way for almost a year now. Hoping he'd go down some more so I could grab a second one.

Not around here, and certainly not for $50. FYI, I got mine from Skylynx for slightly more, but not if you factor in the tax. I'd grab it for $50 pretty quick if I were still looking for one.

Re: Walmart Selections of Toy Clearance items
Very interesting info, but also very frustrating for some people for sure!
Just curious, since you can return items at any wal-mart, what would happen in the following situation:
1. I buy item A at $50 at Wal-Mart X.
2. I return item A to Wal-Mart Y where they were selling it on clearance for $20, but they're currently all out.
3. Wal-Mart Y puts item A out on store shelves at....$50? $20?

Re: Walmart Selections of Toy Clearance items
Or in a reverse scenario:
Buy item A at Walmart A at a clearance price of 20$
Return it to Walmart B where it is not on clearance, and the normal price is 50$.
Would you get 20$ or 50$ back?
I would assume since you normally need a receipt it would be 20$, if they even took it in. If somehow they didn't though, that's kinda......scammish? Immoral?

No, clearly you'd get back what's on your receipt, $20.
Not sure about returns without a receipt. You'd probably have to argue with them for them to take it.

Re: Walmart Selections of Toy Clearance items
From what I understand they use the store code when refunding items from different stores and that code defaults to the price the 1st store is charging. Never run into this before so I cant say for sure.
And thanks JLvatron! : )

Re: Walmart Selections of Toy Clearance items
I think if you had no receipt and said you got it as a gift, they would scan it and whatever price was listed is what you'd get back. So if the clearance item was not on sale in that store, you would get the full price back. I know it works that way in the reverse order.(bought regular price and no receipt, returned it when item on sale, they only offer sale price.)
