Re: Where does your name come from...
Well I figured if Optimus Prime inspired Optimus Primal then a character inspired by Ultra Magnus would also choose something close to his name as well.
So I chose Maverick after playing a load of Megaman X games, but I guess it can also relate to Top Gun
thus, Ultra Maverick was born

Re: Where does your name come from...
In college I really liked the band CKY and the Bam Margera pre-jackass CKY videos so the first part comes from that.
As for IBM
Ian Bruce McDonald
cky_ibm has been my user name at pretty much every site since about 2002. It's easy for me to remember.
Cheers!

Re: Where does your name come from...
My name comes from my legendary love for STAR WARS.
Even though its good name was tarnished from 1999 thru 2005, the classic trilogy will always hold a special place in my heart: Empire was the first movie I saw in theatres back in 1980 (I was 7) and now my 3 year old son uses the New Hope/Empire/Jedi quilt that I had when I was the kid and our FX lightsabers are proudly displayed on his wall (Yoda for him, ESB Luke's for me).
Sometime in 2005, reeling from the letdown of Revenge of the Sith, my interest in Transformers was re-ignited when my wife bought me Classics Jetfire. So now all of my STAR WARS figures (minus the choke hazard weapons) reside in my son's room while all of my TF's are on a bookcase in my office at work.
Regardless of my current love for the plastic crack, I will always be a wannabe Jedi at heart.

Re: Where does your name come from...
Been a fan of the Megaman series since I was grade 1 (6 years old, started with Megaman 2). Protoman was my favorite character (namely due to the Ruby Spears cartoon years later). When I got the internet in 1996, it was a no brainer as my screen name.
Odd thing also. When I got into racing, people thought the name Protoman came from wanted to be first (in a race). Proto = To be the first).

Re: Where does your name come from...
I derived my user name from the Tom Clancy book and the corresponding 1989 Hollywood movie "The Hunt for Red October". There was also an old PC game based on the book as well.
As for my user name, I decided to join the two (2) words and utilize a European spelling of "October" which became "Oktobre".
Finally, I refer to buying TF's as "hunting" which is a direct reference to book and movie title.
