Thanks for the info, everyone!
No prob. I can see on Hot Spot where the tab does provide some support but it really doesn't even seem to be a big deal on the misassembled Vicky.

I took apart the thighs and put them back together without modding. My only real problem is the screwheads were pains and I had to be extremely careful, even using my micro screwdrivers. It will be a pain to pull them back out as the heads partially stripped. I'll have another go at it later and shave those tabs. Thanks Venom and Uberman.

Anyone else notice this or am I just a dumb dumb?
Now I'm wondering if this is a widespread issue on G2 Bruticus as well as on Victorion...

Ugh, my apologies for spamming. Went in and did the fix. Shaved off easily. Don't have any issues in combined mode. Robot mode is stable.

Only real thing is the screws are not going to be easy to take out again if I need to. The soft screwheads easily stripped.

Re: Combiner Wars G2 Bruticus mold changes?

One trick is using a small head soldering gun from circuit board repairs and using the tip to heat the pin just enough to slide it out. You need needlnose pliers and a firm grip. The only issue here is that if you heat too much and apply force sideways the pin can melt right through the peg hole walls. You MUST pull pin out straight. To reassemble simplly reheat the pin in grip of needlenose and push back in. If done right it causes minimal damage and can fix the issues at hand. Patience and a solid plan on where to grab and when to pull is vital.
Too soon and you get pin stuck halfway and have to reheat and risk sidewall melting, too late and the plastic around pin becomes molten and liquifies away.
Ive tried it a few times on junkers. Tried and suceeded only a few times out of manyvtries.
On second thought... dont try it.

Lol.

Picked up my g2 bruticus. I can vouch that my onslaught also has the backwards knee strut. Giving it the ol' exactly knife treatment in a bit.

Re: Combiner Wars G2 Bruticus mold changes?

I'm a bit confused.... my Onslaught has the nubs shown in the link photos but his knees lock in perfectly fine.
Ha! I guess mine were assembled correctly. I misunderstood the angle the website photo was taken from.

Re: Combiner Wars G2 Bruticus mold changes?

The knobs are supposed to be there but on G2 Onslaught and on Victoria on the strut is assembled incorrectly. Hotspot and onslaught have the Nubs in a place where they don't interfere with the knee locking gears. The backwards Nubs prevent the knee strut from going forward enough to lock it without breaking the toy.

The nubs on your pictures onslaught are the correct assembly.

It looks like UW Onslaught doesn't have this issue, looking at the photos...but you never know until it's in hand.

Stuff like this is just a pain in the ass, but at least the trim fix works.
