Are the Scourge head guns different?

I just bought a Targetmaster Scourge and he came with Fracas but no head gun, I didn't realize it was supposed to when I bought it. Can I just buy the 3-piece head gun from a regular Scourge or is there some sort of difference? Is the peg the same size? I tried my other Scourge's head gun and it does feel a bit looser but I'm not sure if that's just the difference in toys.

From what I've been able to dig up; yes, you can just get any old Scourge head piece.

Turns out on the original Scourge, his fist and head holes were two different sizes, but when they made him a Targetmaster they enlarged the fist holes, thereby making the head and hand guns interchangeable.

What about his moustache? When I bought this figure, the seller assured me it was a genuine Targetmaster version because the figure had the black moustache, that's how you tell. I can't find any information online relating to this black moustache, is this a legitimate variation?

Re: Are the Scourge head guns different?

Here's some more info on identifying either a variant regular scourge or the Targetmaster Scourge: http://www.toyarchive.com/Transformers/VarScourge.html

Also, I'm not seeing any photos online of G1 regular or Targetmaster Scourge with a black painted moustache/beard (nor is it listed as a variant) so it's possible someone's done some customizing to that one.

Re: Are the Scourge head guns different?

TF Wiki only makes mention of the peg holes being changed between the two

Well your seller is totally full of shit, and CLEARLY has no idea what he's talking about!

Your TM Scourge there had the Reprolabel upgrades on it just like mine does:

The Silver body/arm stickers, the blue with the Con logo, the facial hair, the red toes (on mine), and red dots on the head crest, shoulders and elbows are all Reprolabes.

In fact it's this set here.

So it's just stickers? Nothing else to worry about?

Re: Are the Scourge head guns different?

Nope. Other than the different gun the two figures are identical.

I'd say the stickers only increased the value.
Lucky you!

But even back in 1987, I didn't morally agree with what they did to Targetmaster Scourge.
His head gun is part of his head appearance and removing it makes him incomplete.

It's like Galvatron without his helmet crown.

Just wrong.

Re: Are the Scourge head guns different?

Targetmaster Scourge still came with the head piece, it's just that now he can wear his Targetmaster as some kind of goofy looking kill hat.
