Re: Cleaning pretender shells
Drying tip: put them in front of the intake of a portable dehumidifier (I've got one of those $80 ones on wheels in my basement). Leave 12-24 hours and everything will be BONE dry.

[/ATTACH]I decided that with the condition of the gun as it was i had nothing to lose. After reading a thread started by (i believe?) chans-formers i gave the gun a peroxide bath.3% and no stirring as put it out when left for work.It got about 7 hrs light and am well pleased with results. It could use another soak but definitely better then before.

Re: Cleaning pretender shells
I recently acquired a thrift store pretender Landmine shell however one of the arms is spotted with "gunk".It's been sitting in a sunlight dishsoap water container for over a week.Several attempts with an old tooth brush are a fail.I tried a Q-tip dipped in 99% isopropyl alcohol and toothbrush at same time, also fail.I even tried a magic eraser and zip.Can anyone else offer ideas of what this"gunk" could be and how to remove it?Any help is appreciated.Thank you.

I don't think you can exactly get rid of it, it looks like it's part of the plastic now just like sun damage. You can try peroxide (there's a thread somewhere here that helps remove sun damage)

Yeah i was thinking of that as well but then i run the risk of brightening the whole thing and just the arm is that way.I suppose i could do the same trick with that gel concoction and cover protect the rest of figure with a washcloth or etc.Thank you anyway.

Re: Cleaning pretender shells
I've tried everything, and nothing will remove that insanely nasty looking plastic mold as I like to call it.

Re: Cleaning pretender shells
an old water pick (carefully used) and soft tooth brush will work in the vary tight areas and can be used with warm water and soap.

Re: Cleaning pretender shells
a few months ago, i got a landmine shell whose rubbery arm is similarly as dirty as the photos above, i just use those wet towelette / disinfectent wipes (the wet ones you typically use to clean your keyboard or desk surfaces) and dry with paper towel and its all good for the most part
