TF:Prime - When should Optimus die?

It's ok, my love for Rodimus Prime stems from more then one piece of source material, I don't expect people to know about it anyhow. He was bad ass in the J-TF 2010 story pages, bad ass in the mangas, and if your looking for growth, the UK Marvel Comic fiction (which also used Ultra Magnus amazingly too).

I say that if he HAS to die, let it happen as a big season finale event and keep him dead for a whole season. Then we can get to experience some growth in the other characters as they try to survive without him, fill in his shoes, etc.

I could see Arcee taking charge for a whole season. It could be really interesting since she's been traumatized with losing others close to her. Imagine if the whole squad, and maybe even the entire autobot war effort, became her responsibility.

Heck, we may not even HAVE to bring Prime back.

Why is it that a great leader must fall? It is a typical plot line used all to often. If they kill him off I like to see no resurection but maybe a recycling of his parts. He would make a nice throne chair in Megs command center. Soundwave can use his lamp mode finally once again to highlight such a Prime trophy. CCC Convoy Corpse Chair lol

Since we're already in the neighbourhood of Prime dying, What are you guys's opinion on when something called a "Matrix of Leadership" or some equivalent MacGuffin appear?

I say never as well. The concept has been beaten to death, no pun intended. Prime's been killed and brought back to often and we can't take another Rodimus Prime like G1 or Ultra "I can't deal with that right now". Be original, let freedom ring and let Prime live and may Megatron forgive me since he is my favourite character.

On the one hand, it's part of the lore. It also means we get matrix toys or the matrix being somehow part of the toys, which I'm in favor of.

However, there's not much point in having a matrix of leadership unless it's going to be passed to someone or used as a resurrection plot device like in ROTF.

That means we're back to Prime dying, which I'm not in favor of.
