TF:Prime - When should Optimus die?

Let's face it, the TF:Prime version of Optimus is going to die. Every version of Optimus (except the RiD version, but that was just a cheap filler series on both sides of the Pacific) dies. It's as much a fundamental part of his character as turning into a truck.

Hell, even versions of Optimus that didn't turn into trucks have died (for instance, Optimus Primal died three frickin' times!) So the question is, when should this happen, and how long should he stay dead?

For the purposes of this poll, dieing "soon" means that it'll happen at some point in the first series. Dieing later refers to any point after that.

Staying dead for an extended period means that there's enough time for a new status quo to form sand Optimus (such as in G1 season 3.) Being resurrected quickly means that Optimus will come back within the next episode or two (such as in Beast Wars) or even in the same episode in which he died (such as in Animated.)

Is TF: Prime another stand-alone TF story arc? Like TF Animated?
I haven't been able to bring myself to watch an episode yet... the clip I saw looked really bad.

I vote 'not at all'. It's a weak and overly used plot point, and given how dark 'Prime' is from time to time I don't want to see a creepy zombie-fied dark energon Prime crawling towards Miko wanting to eat her. Wait a second...that actually sounds kinda cool, but I'd still rather it be undead Bumblebee instead.

What I'd love to see happen is for Prime to die, then gets Dark Energon injected into him.

Zombified Prime sounds kinda cool. They should do this as the finale to either Season 1 or 2. In the 2-parter finale, we should see an epic showdown between Megatron and Optimus (what else would happen?) with Megs being super powered up with dark energon. Prime will get his ass kicked and will fail whatever mission he is on. The world will be in imminent danger and the Autobots will be forced to retreat without Prime.

While regrouping, their will be the standard despair and discord from now being leaderless and the usual pep talk that get's the bots right back on track (I would like to see a prime version of either Ironhide or Jazz take command. Maybe even a grizzled vet with a burr on his rotator)

As they stage their last stand, the Autobots may take a couple of additional casualties but will turn the Decepticons back. In the last moments of the episode as your cliffhanger for next season, we see Prime in a lab/torture chamber being experimented upon in a similar way to Cliffjumper. The end result will be Prime being brought back as "Nemesis Prime," a cannibalistic half-dead monster with the only way to restore him being through a quest to recover a historical relic capable of neutralizing dark energon.

Not sure if this would be any good, just one theory of what could happen if Hasbro ran out of ideas to end a season. (Note the similar circumstances in the G1 episode Dark Awakening - Difference being G1 Prime could fight the evil influence)

I would like him to die after rodimus is introduced and in killed off before prime dies so people don't go hatin on hotrod for it happening... Again

When TF: Prime Hot Rod comes, that's when Prime Prime will die, to make room for a Prime Rodimus Prime.

I believe he died in the first episode of animated now that I think of it. Sari used her key to resurrect him.
