Jonathan contacted us to refund 3 items to a store credit. Amidst the backlogs we've been experiencing this request fell through the cracks"

So he didn't get a response to enquiries about his preorders. Seems like a good reason to start a paypal refund if you ask me.
How many times is this idiot going to blame the "backlog" as if the backlog isn't of HIS own doing? Get more staff, dummy

There must be a lot of cracks because everyone's preorders and orders have been falling through. My dude better get some Flex Tape.

Little more research but in Canada he can only charge a restocking fee AFTER the customer has received their items and returned them. He also may not charge one for missing, defective or wrong orders. I asked around at work a bit because I know we get charged them from vendors but only if we are outside the established return time policy. Pretty sure this guy is straight up breaking the law.

I'm planning on submitting reports to the Competition Bureau and any other Federal or Provincial body that handles fraud. Maybe if enough people speak up some action will be taken.

If they need any supporting anecdotes, I'd be happy to contact them.

Be sure to mention his new $20 chargeback policy that seems to be aimed at penalizing and deterring customers from protecting themselves from his poor business practices. That one feels particularly egregious to me.

I haven't received a response about cancelling my preorders. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and say he is "incredibly swamped" but when and what is a reasonable next step for me if I hear nothing back

I had to email a fair bit before he cancelled my preorders.
