Retail outlets in Canada are complaining about losing money to about cross-border shopping. If they want to do something about that, they HAVE to lower prices.
Obviously this isn't so much a concern for stores in places Iqaluit (maybe not Vancouver Island, either, unfortunately for you), but most Canadians are located pretty close to the US border...
