FansProject Riftshot and Recoiler review

I saw this pair over at FPCore.com and decided to do the preorder for it last month. And here it is on my doorstep yesterday. As is typical for the recent bots that I got from Fansproject, they are packaged in a clear plastic box protecting the main packaging.

The contents of the instruction manual are identical. There is no special comic or any background to the specifically packaged bot.

According to the "Tuna Standard," the bots are voyager-sized. Recoiler (visor) weighs a teensy bit more because of his visor but as soon as you get the add-on parts to Riftshot and Recoiler they start bulking up.
The pilots (backpack masters?) are light weight and taller than one can of tuna.

Continued on next post...

Re: FansProject Riftshot and Recoiler review

Riftshot

Recoiler

Aside from the paint applications and the head sculpt, they are identical.
This is where the drivers reside when not in the driver's seat.

Riftshot's gear.

Recoiler's gear. The barrel on the rifle also extends. The dual pistols for both bots click together to form the bumper in their alt modes

The gear adds a little flavour to Riftshot and Recoiler but ultimately the parts are for Revolver (Roadbuster). Though I don't really understand the big feet for Recoiler.
FansProject could have made Recoiler's gear into a pack of some sort but they instead gave him monstrous feet like snowshoes.
The plastic is very good quality and the poseability is excellent. The joints go every which way and all the extra gear can be attached to their alt modes. Nothing is wasted. Though I have to mention, I found it a little sad that the half-track treads do not move. The front weels do but for some reason they neglected to make the tracks roll.
The transformation was not overly difficult and everything moved into place without force or worry that I may snap a part off.
The only reason I like this particular mold is that it's connected to Roadbuster and thus was willing to pay what I did for it. Normally, I would have only grabbed one bot and been content but I wanted to get the extra parts for Roadbuster.

Don't you love how they did the box art inserts for all three?

Those completely slipped my mind. They were pretty nice now that I'm looking at them again.

I just want the addon parts or them cheaper.

My thinking on the big shoes is he is a sniper and maybe they are a "thing" to hold him in place when he shoots.

I like this 'can of tuna" unit of measurement. Everything should be meted out by that unit.
