Anyone here customize regular action figures?
I recently got the NECA Robocop figure, mostly because I love Robocop and I've always wanted a nice figure of him.
But I don't really care for the NECA deco which is inspired by the old school video game, and I'm thinking about repainting it to his classic look.
My only problem is that unlike TFs I have no way to take him apart and separate the parts for painting.
Any advice?

I customize some 3 3/4 figs. I grafted some of the new Michael Keaton batman parts on to marvel universe grim reaper to give him improved articulation. DC 3 3/4 figures lack marvels articulation.

That's really cool, but it doesn't address my question.

Sore, forgot to post the rest. You may be able to work the seam down the middle of the torso with a very fine exacto blade and split it apart. I've done that with several figures before and then just dab crazy glue to lock it back up.

Re: Anyone here customize regular action figures?
If you can't take apart your figure, it comes down to 2 things:
1) good masking skills
2) steady hands
Not much more advice that I can give, other than proceed slowly, and work in sections. Since you're saying you can take him apart, chances are that you're going to need to hold onto part of him while you paint others, and eventually you'll need to be holding onto a newly painted part to finish painting him. Make sure you give your paint enough time to dry/cure.

You are better off just buying the classic look figure either with spring loaded holster or the new one that comes with the jetpack.

Yeah, you'd think that, but I got this guy for free, and I'd rather not spend money on a figure I already have.
It's not like a he's a Seeker jet or anything!
