TFCC Chromedome Clone

Right now, he's a WIP. And he'll probably be a Transtector for a few weeks as cypherplex is building a head for me to print via Shapeways.

Anyhow, the photos below are from me doing a very basic attempt to see how he's looking at the moment. I am only using gravity and friction to hold the disassembled parts together.

I'm also going to have to grab some masking tape as I am quite disgusted at those squiggly lines. :P

I like the colors so far, looks good.

I find it really hard to try to free hand paint real crisp straight lines. Try using Tamiya edge tape or frog tape, masking tape will work you can get some that is 6mm wide at Lordco. Just make sure you rub the edges of the tape down with round blunt object or your fingernail, otherwise you get bleed thru on the edges. Also when you apply the paint along the tape edge brush away from the edge and this helps with the paint not going under.

Can't wait to see the rest and your custom head.

It's a good start, but you really need to water down your paint in thinner coats. That mold chips paint off easily when you put the joints and such back together, and it doesn't help when there's additional paint in areas where it shouldn't be.

Re: TFCC Chromedome Clone

I buggered up the legs with the stupid slider joint and it doesn't rotate in the socket. It's not too horrible though. And yeah my lines aren't crisp and straight but it's for me and I don't particularly mind too much.

He's just awaiting his head now. I'll get around to more photos later.

I suppose so xD. You've certainly improved since your first customs and will get better with each custom that you do! And colors, such as the bone-ish colour you're using takes a very hard time to get used to.

Back together and someone's got a head finally! It's not painted yet and this is the first testshot of the head.

Re: TFCC Chromedome Clone

Gabriel Jean ( I don't know his user name on cyb.ca but he uses XSilverboltX on TFW2005) created the head.

Ah I did a Google site search: cypherplex http://www.cybertron.ca/boards/member.php?u=10149
