Re: 1 Transformer Everyone Should Have
I personally think the 1 transformer everyone should have in their collection is their favourite one. My favourite is Jetfire and I have almost all of them. And I would give them up for the million no problem.

Either G1 Predaking or G1 Scorponok. Both are well put together figures and have vivid colours.

Re: 1 Transformer Everyone Should Have
As far as Primes go (due to his iconic staus):
-G1 or any reissue. Still relatively easy and cheap to obtain, and we can always expect another reissue at any moment. The greatest leader of all time. Of all time. Take that 1988 commerical! /Kanye
-MP Prime. For those who don't mind spending the extra dough
-Classics/Henkei (+ G3 Trailer). Terrific update and not too hard to find, though slowly getting more and more scarce
It's obvious you should get your favorite character, but I say also your FIRST Transformer ever! For myself: G1 Thundercracker (so glad he got the Encore treatement).
Plus any other bots you owned & loved as a kid. Oh the memories! But you never forget your first!

This is so true! G1 Prowl will always have a special place in my heart thanks to my dad and both Reissue and Universe 2.0 Prowl have just continued to fuel my love for Prime's right hand bot!

Re: 1 Transformer Everyone Should Have
I agree with all stated toys but to be different:
My first Autobot was G1 Red Alert. The Lamborghini mold was perfect in proportions and had good articulation. My first G1 Decepticon was Ramjet, and any seeker mold had all the same charms. 25 years later I still love these toys, and base my argument on emotion not reason.
