I also do not recommend mixing alcohol and Beasties.

Re: Fans Project = Borderline KO Company?

Whoever would call Fansproject a "knockoff company" doesn't know the meaning of the word "knockoff". While it is true that most of their releases are designed around Hasbro product, they do go out of their ways not to step on Hasbro's toes, both with naming, figure design, or marketing. Among third party companies making things for TF collectors, they're probably at the top in terms of quality. There really is no comparison to Road Bots...

Re: Fans Project = Borderline KO Company?

How exactly are they a "borderline KO company" given that they design and produce completely NEW designs / toys based upon Transformers characters.

Re: Fans Project = Borderline KO Company?

Not Knock-off per se and the add ons are nice, but they should stop creating new molds based on Hasbro Characters. If they are so great, they really need to start up their own brand rather then riding the coat tails of another.

Re: Fans Project = Borderline KO Company?

Wikipedia:

Counterfeit consumer goods: Counterfeit consumer goods, commonly called knock-offs are counterfeit or imitation products offered for sale

Counterfeit: A counterfeit is an imitation, usually one that is made with the intent of fraudulently passing it off as genuine

FansProject does none of the above.

They do not pass off their products as any genuine Hasbro/Takara products. Rather, they are an accessory or compliment Hasbro/Takara products.

As for their quality, it's definitely not the same materials/plastics that Hasbro/Takara use, but they paint jobs are much more detailed IMO, with sharper molds and surprisingly complex transformations at times, considering they're designed from scratch and not a counterfeit to official TF designs/molds.

Re: Fans Project = Borderline KO Company?

No, they're not.

They make original products, that they themselves design. They don't take an existing product, copy it with cheap plastic and sell for cheap. Nor do they make a product which could be mistaken for an official Hasbro product.

Do they make original products that are meant to go with a certain figure? Yes. But calling that a KO is analogous to saying that the CD you just bought to go with your stereo is a KO.
