Same, and my order was $100+

I'm curious though - isn't the deposit refundable? And even if it wasn't, the final purchase would be, so how much of a "deterrent" is it?

I get that the inconvenience of having to return it to the store puts some skin in the game, but still.

If you cancel the order the deposit is refunded.

When the items gets processed or shipped, they'll charge the remaining balance, minus the $10 deposit.

Maybe, you have up to 30 days to return it, after you receive it.

I've had luck cancelling through the chat. It's true you can't just so it through your account anymore, so it is a bit harder.

If that's the case, then it would run counter to:

A benefit for GS is that they get to sit on your $10 deposit for however long you don't cancel your order. Times that $10 by however many orders they take and that's cash flow for them. Just like how Gift Cards work.

Also I'm sure they're banking on most people who order not cancelling too.

Man, that's a benefit for ME
I often get pre's in but can't afford to pick em up right away - if this deposit system forces them to hold it until im ready ("what can we do, he paid the ten bucks" etc) then saves me a bit of headache
