The best rating scale?

I was wondering what you use to rate the condition of your Transformers. Is there a standard? As a collector I dont require all of mine to be MINT,but I would like to know how to rate them for future purchases.

Plus I see many people using the term M.I.B which I assume is "Mint in Box",but then they describe it and it is not mint. They list discolorations, loose joints, missing parts, etc. If that is the case then most of my G1's are MIB.Am I wrong in thinking that using that term just b/c it comes with the box is wrong? Thanks for any input available.

Re: The best rating scale?

I think your nitpicking a bit to much there, I think MIB is more an expression letting the buyer know it's a figure that comes with the box then a mint figure with the box.

And this thread belongs in Transformers general discussion.

Most people ask high dollar for figures that are MIB and if expecting my moneys worth is nitpicking than I guess you are correct.Personally if MIB stands for "Mint in Box" I think they should be mint.

What I was inquiring about mostly was the rating scale most widely used,so that I may rate my collection correctly and buy them accordingly.

And I thought I had posted this in the General discussion,my apologize.

Re: The best rating scale?

If you want an actual scale, you'd use the "C-number" notation ("C8", "C9", etc), where the number is between 1 and 9/10, and the higher the number, the better the condition.

The terms MIB/MISB are generally used to specify the state of the figure (with or without box, and sealed or not) rather than the condition of the figure, upon which you'll use the above C-whatever notation.
