Re: Ai-Kon, Manitoba's Anime Convention, July 16th - 18th

Kirby was like any other guest at the con, polite and easily approachable. I didn't even realize who he was until he mentioned Hot Shot and I spotted the special name tag he had on.

It was actually kind of cool. I brought copies of my TF Mosaic with me for hand outs (Nobody took any though. ) and I believe he actually read it. Didn't say anything about it or ask about it, but he read it so that's cool.

In case you're wondering why I'm up at 4 AM... well I couldn't get back to sleep so I've gotten my stuff together and that helped me return to a sleepy state, I should be able to doze off for another hour or two. (I hope.)

I'm bringing a smorgasboard of G1 goodies to show off for this, the last day of the Con. Commemorative Series Powermaster Prime, Targetmaster Ricochet, Headmaster Hardhead (Headless of course), Pretender Skullgrin, an assortment of Micromasters, Mini-Bots (Including Bumblebee and Cliffjumper.), Rodimus Prime (Because I know most people hate him, but he must be displayed.) and a small assortment of G2. I've got my bases covered and this way we get to show off a lot of the later gimmicks from the line, plus since Benzo said he was bringing Star Convoy if he's in base mode we can deck him out with a handful of Micromasters.

Most of the G1 figures are on the smallish side, so I think I'll display them either on the back table or in a case, we haven't had any problems so far, but easily pocketed mini-bots can unfortunately lead to temptation, especially when it's G1.

Oh and I'm bringing my soundtrack to TFTM on CD, the 20th anniversary one, so heads up Rob if you see this before heading out and maybe want to bring a stereo or small cd boombox we can have musical accompaniement at the table and if you want during the panel. Just tryin' ta be helpful. Now I'd better get at least two hours more sleep. *YAWN*

Re: Ai-Kon, Manitoba's Anime Convention, July 16th - 18th

The last day of Ai-kon is now several hours past, the pictures downloaded and the memories still fresh.

Wer started the day setting up our G1 toys, all kinds of awesome there including Apeface, Scorponok, Power Master Prime, Rodimus Prime and more.

Next came the Iacon North presented panel, Transformers: Journey to America. Being that it is the first panel I've done I think it went fairly well. We had maybe 25 people checking it out and the trivia contest seemed to easily be the highlight of the panel.

Thanks to Starscream116 for helping out with the trivia contest.

Congrats go to Ravage, the winner of the Trivia contest. We had answers for all but two questions which was good.

Iacon North has been invited back to Ai-kon next year so all in all it was a very successful weekend. Scrapper6's Transformers Mosiac is pretty cool and I think Benzo has a shot or two of the panel to post up as well.

UGH. I look terrible in that pic. Ruddy forehead pimples, I despise them so.

And look who's sneakily preparing his trap to escape the confines of Robimus' collection for a brief period of time.

Boy was I surprised when I got home and after an hour long nap started unpacking and discovered someone who shouldn't be where he wasn't before. Sorry Robimus, I guess four and a half hours sleep and a long day at a table eventually wears a fella out to the point where he isn't paying the most attention he should be.

And yeah, a great time was had by all at this con. I eagerly anticipate future trips to such exoctic and fun events, but for future referrence remind me to keep my toys labeled so I don't accidentally goof again. LOL

Re: Ai-Kon, Manitoba's Anime Convention, July 16th - 18th

WTF! I missed all of Sunday at the Convention Center recovering from Saturday in a hotel room. Ai-kon was completely epic. Cosplay was crazy, artist were crazy, the photo shoots were crazy, Iacon North was crazy, the Ayres Brothers were crazy. If you're reading this and you're the chick I licked at BP, I'm sorry, unless you liked it. Yeah you liked it. I'm not sorry. Call me. Robimus, Sorry I missed the panel. Free Hugs.

The Ayres brother were very personable. For the last couple hours on Sunday they simply hung out with the fans in the main hall, kinda like an un advertised attraction.

Chris Ayres came by the Iacon table and complimented it a few times. He really made an impression on me over the weekend.
