I noticed it immediately too.
It's totally generic enough that most people will just see it as a toy robot, I think.
It's only people like us who recognized it that are now puzzled and thinking "what the hell is Galvatron doing there!" on a show about time travel.
Gets you thinking.
I guess a simple enough explanation could be that one of the kids, who'd just figured out Clara was a time traveler, got thinking about old things and pulled Galvatron out of a trunk and left it on the counter.

And yeah, probably simply that someone on set decided "let's have Clara fiddle with something" and someone had Galvatron fairly handy.
