Just to reiterate on this - there's only one ATM in the hotel proper, and it tends to run out of cash fast. There are banks not too far away, but the safest bet is to bring all of your spending money with you before the con.
Some dealers do take credit/debit, but only cash is guaranteed.

I went to a TFcon years ago and remember it was mostly just a room with plastic tables and people selling stuff. Is that really the main attraction?

depends what you are into, i don't normally attend panels (occasionally, but not often) the dealer room is fun, but the main attraction for me is seeing the people i chat with online.

I was going to say the main attraction of TFCon is meeting and seeing all of you fine people that attend

Re: Tips and Tricks for First time TFCon Attendees
Don't impulse buy. Always look around the Dealer Room more than once to see if anyone else is selling the same toy. Try to make your deal, and don't spend all your money in less than 10 minutes.
Trust me, this happens

I remember from last year's TFcon, someone stole items from dealers. (From Eric?) So for both dealers and buyers, please be careful about your belongings.

Re: Tips and Tricks for First time TFCon Attendees
I'm surprised I have seen this mentioned yet, get a lanyard and make a badge with what board or boards (Cybertron, TFW, etc) your on and your screen name or names.
Bring some snacks/drinks if you want to save some dough otherwise your eating out.
Panels are a great way to recharge if you have time and have been a thing I have gotten more into over the years. When I first started going to cons back in '08, yes I had some catching up to do so the dealer room was my focus. Now it's meeting up with the friends I've made here and the panels because some of the guests are truly entertainers and nothing recharges you faster then a few laughs which usually happens at the panels.
For me this year I am limiting myself on purchases as space in my home has become a focus and at a premium so think about where you're going to store or put that bad boy before you buy it. Maybe have a vision on how you want to display your collection or where a particular figure might fit in and where. I'll be buying a new home in the coming year and a half and then I can start blowing the doors off again.
I think that's all for me, anyone else?

Re: Tips and Tricks for First time TFCon Attendees
For any convention, remember the "3-8-3" rule:
1. Eat full meals at least 3 times a day.
2. At least sleep for 8 hours a day.
3. Shower at least 3 times during the weekend.
