Canadian Slag Episode 38 - Let the Battle be Joined

Since the start of this podcast we've been getting requests to have a Beast Wars discussion, and this is as good a time as any to honour quite possibly the best Transformers show to date. After a lengthy talk on the "Beasties", enjoy Chris's interview with David Kaye from TFcon 2010...we hope we were gentle. In this week's getting to know we cover Sideswipe, aka the most popular Autobot who did little to nothing and close this beast packed episode with a what the hell were they thinking with spring loaded, one step basic Beast Wars figures, and where they've evolved from there.

Episode 38 - Let the Battle be Joined

- By overwhelming demand: Beast Wars discussion

I was hoping for a new CS to show up soon. Thanks for making my day!

I'm really interested to hear what you guys have to say about the spring loaded basics from BW because I personally loved those little guys.

But it's packed with Beast Warsy goodness!!!

Sad part is we could talked the entire 100 minutes about Beast Wars but we had other topics to cover...

Re: Canadian Slag Episode 38 - Let the Battle be Joined

Top 3 Episodes (excluding Code of Hero, in no order):
Double Jeopardy
The Trigger
Deep Metal

Honorable:
Spider's Game

Characters:
Rattrap
Rhinox
Megatron

Honorable:
Dinobot

What is means to Nocturn:
Beast Wars will never leave. Should I get out of collecting, these will be the only toys I will keep. I can take or leave any of the other series or lines, but I can't drop Beast Wars.

Plus my "first time" had Beast Wars playing in the background, so......

In terms of Top 3 favourite episodes...it comes down to;

3) Fallen Comrades
2) The Agenda Part 2
1) Coming of the Fuzors Part 2

as for fave characters;

3) Tarantulas (seriously, who can't love this mad scientist? )
2) Ravage
1) Silverbolt (always have, always will)

Beast Wars is my favorite TF show. But the toys are one of my least favorite lines.

Re: Canadian Slag Episode 38 - Let the Battle be Joined

Wow! There was some passion in this one. I guess that just shows how important BW is is to many of us. I personally consider BW a part of G1, so I have no qualms with list G1 as my fave TF series. BW is the incredible finale to that generation, I say.

It's also pretty clear that the Protoman loves his anime dub free. I personally believe that dubbing has come a long way and that there are some very good ones out there. If I have the option of a good dub over subtitles I'll take the dub but I can certainly understand that others would opt for the original version.

Another great episode guys.

Oh no no, it's not that. Let's not use that term...... the..... the "imports" of Micron, Superlink and Galaxy Force had scenes cut, scripts altered, genders swapped, names (and thus characters) changed, and most of all, have the "after dub" process. While not all anime shows have pre-dub as part of the process, Gonzo Animation that did Galaxy Force is very strict about using pre-dub for their productions (and thus why Galaxy Force had the most bad ass GAR of the 3)
