I beleive it isn't. I know 3D Realms is done with it, but another company might be picking it up. Gotta talk to my buddy who told me of all this in the first place.

Duke Nukem was made by 3d Realms, not Id. 3d Realms has now been dissolved.

Someone might try to pick up the license, but considering its sort of a gaming punchline, why should they?

Sorry, made the correction while you were osting to point it out.

Like I said, I have to talk to my buddy, but the company that was potentially picking it up will, I think, be releasing whatever craptastic thing the can. Sounds like a joke, should be funny to see if it comes to fruition.

3D realms isn't closed. At least not yet. They're still running a skeleton crew to maintain licenses, collect royalties and maintain support.

Well, crap. I've had DNF on pre-order since 1998. What the hell am I going to play now?

In all seriousness, I hope that Duke makes another appearance. Even if it is just as an easter egg. I've been tempted to fire up DN3D Plutonium Pack and crush some shrunken aliens under my boot.

That, and the game was hilarious that it allowed you to kick with your left and right foot at the same time while running.
