Re: Monstructor (WIP) - Pic Heavy

Quite a bit of work done now, looks good,

I see you changed slugs head what do you think better than before ??

For your hand joint have you thought about a lego pin to axle connector?

the only thing that stands out so far to me is slogs bot mode crotch, almost g1 megatron toy-ish.
any way to shave it down on the front a bit without messing with the internal gearing?

combiner torso mode looks nice and beefy so far, keep it up!
I could just add details to fill that gap....the entire assembly is on a pin joint.....still have to find a way to hold all this up though....the Combiner Wars deluxes don't seem like strong legs with 2 voyagers and 2 deluxes over them.

Re: Monstructor (WIP) - Pic Heavy

UPDATE: FEBRUARY 16TH;

Finally got somewhere with Birdbrain; made the waist connection a lot more solid than it was. Still trying to get Monstructor to balance on his legs, but one thing at a time right?

Robot mode

Wingless bird mode......still need to find the right head

And Monstructor! The legs are placeholders....I plan to use 2 RiD Steeljaws

Awesome progress, man!

Having not one but TWO Voyager-class toys as a torso ought to even out the proportions so that he doesn't end up with gorilla arms... though this IS Monstructor; maybe gorilla arms are preferable?...

My only real recommendation at this point is to take clearer pictures!

They look fine when I looked at them, but I was drinking too

I'm glad I'm not the only one that drinks when building customs

Great stuff. I love how creative your customs always are. I never would have thought of using the seekers as birds.

Re: Monstructor (WIP) - Pic Heavy

so I been busy...ish. I mostly have been trying to complete Monstructor's basic shape before adding details, and generally making sure he can stand on his own without toppling over. One major part of that is his legs, which are both made from RiD Steeljaws.

Why? Well Scowl is a werewolf, so simple repaint there....and both are generally the same shape so I figured I'd just use the same mold twice.

And speaking of the same mold, just showing some wip pics of my take on Icepick...not as a crystal monster, but a robot mafia penguin. Yes you heard me right. With a laser tommy gun and everything.

Robot mode. I think DotM Laserbeak look penguin...ish..enough?

Since penguins don't have wolf tails, I needed to add some heels to the feet so Icepick won't topple backward. The image above is him standing using these so they work quite well so far!

I wish I had bought some in scale cinder blocks for this shot. eh well.

Yes. I made Steeljaw into a Combiner Wars figure.

Re: Monstructor (WIP) - Pic Heavy

WE GOT HANDS!

Finally have an update on Monstructor, mostly involving his hands and wrists. I always enjoy having an excuse to use modelling software, so I whipped up 2 designs to allow me to use Unicron's hands with the Combiner Wars 5mm peg system. Still need to make the foot but we're close now!
