Question Losing GB

I bought a Dell Inspiron 1525 with windows Vista about two weeks ago and I have noticed I am losing a lot of hard disk space. The laptop came with 220GB.
Major space used:
Dell disks, Norton 360 ect.:20GB
TrackMania: 503.7MB
MSN: No more than 200MB
Ran Disk Defragment lost 2GB

Now I have 185GB remaining and it keeps decreasing over time without me saving anything. I don't want to run a disk cleanup because some people report of it crashing their computer. Any replies would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Losing GB

One possibility is check to see how much is being taken up by automatic back-ups.

Re: Losing GB

I would agree Vista always like XP makes rollbacks or backups and that could be taking space up.

You making sure you empty your recycling box ? How much space is allocated to it ?

Check to see if Norton 360 is protecting files on your computer, if the protection is on, sometimes it keeps the deleted files in a system folder called recycler even after deletion. It happens alot with my USB drive.

Also the fact that it's Vista and Vista just really really sucks.
