Re: Considering Masterpiece Megatron: Thoughts?
as far as a new release have to wait and see with so much bs over weapons he'll probabley end up being a tank or a truck, that said I like the Mp megs have had no problems with him bought him without the orange plug that was used with later versions if I was to say any thing bad it would be he is a little bulky in gun mode and lacks the walther details that G1 megs has other than that I think is a good addition if you have Mp prime.

Re: Considering Masterpiece Megatron: Thoughts?
I'd wait for the inevitable new version, the original sucked.

Re: Considering Masterpiece Megatron: Thoughts?
As for the plug, mine came with one and it just popped right out. Not a problem at all.

Re: Considering Masterpiece Megatron: Thoughts?
I have MP, and I'm a bit disappointed with it. So much that could have been realized....
Anyways, Takara wanted to go the way of extremely accurate gun mode at the expense of the robot mode. The legs are a bit spindly because of that, actually, he does look fairly disproportional. But the transformation is similar to G1 Megatron.
I consider him a nice book-end to MP-04 Optimus Prime, especially since he has the JustItToys add-on. While the rest of the MP line seems to be off on its own, being the actual MP line (well, except for MP Rodimus Prime.... I'm hoping he gets redesigned).
I plan on getting MP-10 Optimus Prime, and whatever new and improved MP Megatron that comes out. Hopefully they focus more on the robot mode and fudge the gun mode a bit.
I mean, seriously, even MP-05 Megatron's face is a miss. :/
But then, TakaraTomy's come a really long way since then. Also, not sure if we'll see a gun Megatron or a G2 tank Megatron.

Re: Considering Masterpiece Megatron: Thoughts?
Unless I cared about scaling him along with really big shit, I'd probably just run with that Hegemon thing & call it a night. Pretty sure its the best looking Megatron I've seen, the transformation looks interesting, and if we ever do see a new MP Megatron, I'd sooner expect it to be the tank one anyway, meaning that I could always buy both. Plus, the sword it comes with it totally bitchin', and I think the smaller size does more than a few favors in terms of shelf compatibility.

Re: Considering Masterpiece Megatron: Thoughts?
I think he's good as a display piece, not as a toy though...he is a scary nightmare to transform. Mine is in great shape with no rust or colouring at all. I traded my extra mib mp Hasbro skywarp for him a few years ago...glad I didn't spend more than $30 for him though.

I agree with this.
I've transformed him several times without incident -- the only TF that really scares me is MP Roddy.
The only thing I really don't like about it is that the gun is freakishly large. The rest is nice. Apart from being too big, the gun is impressive, transformation is clever and involved, and the robot is imposing. I like it and I have no regrets.
It seems more likely than not that there will be another version. Probably the gun will scale better and the robot/transformation will be more streamlined. But who knows when.

Re: Considering Masterpiece Megatron: Thoughts?
Thanks Everyone,
I've decided not to get him at this time, When the reviews are mostly negative, that's a pretty good gauge of how the toy represents.
I'll hold out hope for a new version.

Re: Considering Masterpiece Megatron: Thoughts?
One of my favorite figures, nice intuitive transformation, impressive on a shelf, miles better than mp rodimus in terms of fragility
