Prime vs. Generations

Now that the Prime RID line is in full swing, I've been considering on swapping a few of my Generations figures for their Prime counterparts.

The ones I'm primarily considering is swapping Generations Cliffjumper for the Prime FE one (Which is getting a release as G1 Cliff with a new head as part of the Asia exclusives) and Prime Ratchet as I've never been able to get my hands on a Universe Ratchet.

Also up for swaps are Arcee and Wheeljack mainly because there is no real Classics figure for Arcee and I'm really loving the Prime RID Wheeljack. Depending also on the Ironhide coming in future waves, he may also be included.

So my question is, are there any Prime figures that you feel would do better as their G1 incarnations more than the current CHUG figures that have already been released.

Re: Prime vs. Generations

None, I feel they really have their very own distinct prime vibe. Just having them next to my classics is aesthetically awkward.

The closest was wheeljack but the prime one is far too fit and feels way less of a scientist then the generations one.

You're only bet really...is bulkhead since he has no G1 character but seems to be one of the new Designs who's going to slip into G1 just like Drift, lockdown and Lugnut.

Agreed with everything you say except the bulkhead. I find Bulkhead to "bulky" to fit into a G1 esque line. I'm not sure it it's the look or the size but to me Bulkhead just has way too much the Prime feel to fit in adequately IMO.

Re: Prime vs. Generations

i think the prime figures are an entity of themselves.....i really dont get how you can fit them with CHUG or G1 figures simply because of their design. It doesnt feel right to mix the lines up...keep em separate!

No. They different, distinct characters to me. If I put Prime Cliffjumper on my Classics shelf, I'd be like "why is a Prime character next to all those G1 characters?"

Re: Prime vs. Generations

also the fact that how every flashback we've seen in the prime episodes does not use the same character molds as the war for cybertron game (for example: the story of orion pax told by ratchet doesnt depict the wfc optimus but rather a complete different mold despite being in the same continuity) only makes it even more weird to have the prime and generations mixed up.

It's Apples and Oranges for me. Prime has it's own look and feel.

Re: Prime vs. Generations

I like Prime Wheeljack better than Generations Wheeljack. Maybe because I want Tracks to be a unique mold!

Re: Prime vs. Generations

RTS Tracks could fit right in with my Prime figures, mostly because him & Cliffjumper are like Hack & Slash to me.

Re: Prime vs. Generations

While I admit, that for the most part, each line has their own aesthetic, for me, the idea started after seeing the promos for the Generations Asia exclusives.
