Re: Collection has Hit a Brick Wall

I think the suggestions of storage and rotating the displays are great if you can't part with them just yet...

I buy these "plastic shelves on casters" that allow me to store them, stack them, and even organize them...and at the same time have access to virtually any figure not on display. When I run out of space I buy another...not that I don't struggle with space but it is a great way to keep any TF I want handy...

I've got a bin to store the extra figs. Problem is deciding which to toss in.

I have three or four buckets full of TFs and STILL no room. so you're not alone man

Re: Collection has Hit a Brick Wall

You must have guideline's in your collecting. You just can't be buy all the crap that they dish out. My rules for collecting transformers..........
1. if it doesn't appear in a comic book or cartoon, it doesn't exist.
2. if it doesn't transform, why have it.
3. Repaints. If they give a g1 paint job to an outside line just to sell more, don't get it. Guarantee that they will make a better one down the road.

I'm currently in a purging process myself. Rotations are great, especially if you're purging down to a level that is still too much for you to display all at once. I keep my extras in big flattish moving boxes, but I should probably get something a little more stable for them...

Re: Collection has Hit a Brick Wall

I have about 200 or so on display at the moment. I prefer to display G1ers ...well , updated versions of them ala Generations and RTS or other lines like Energon for an updated Slugslinger, ROTF and FansProject (a godsend to all TF fans) for Bruticus and Superion. I had to add a hutch to display all my new 2011 figures and a new 86' movie shelf...with a new glass case coming soon. I am going to be selling a mess of my original loose G1 and assorted figures sometime this summer to make more room in my storage. My wife says my collection is like a fungus...cause it spreads far and fast, lol.
If a newer and better version of a figure comes out I will rotate it out and have the new version displayed. I picked up a ROTF Brawn and it was awesome...then Firetrap came out, it is far better and looks just like the Brawn Minibot...I switched out his thighs with ROTF Scattershot and now I have an almost perfect updated scout class Brawn.
