MTMTE Shadowplay

I'm currently reading MTMTE Shadowplay. That story normally takes place in the past sometime before the war. So reading it, is it essential? I mean does it have anything to do with the present and future stories? Or it's a standalone series and can be skipped.

Thanks

Re: MTMTE Shadowplay

All the MTMTE stores are essential to read because they contain information that is important and that will be used as the series progresses.

Don't skip it, it's one of the best Transformer stories ever written. It also has major repercussions for future MTMTE stories and characters as well as the overall IDW universe in general.

don't skip it.
it explains a lot about what's really going on behind the face of the main antagonist in the "dark cybertron" series and why he did/does what he does....

Re: MTMTE Shadowplay

If you're already reading it, why are you asking if you should skip it?

Yeah, that was one of the best slow-build up reveals ever. I remember when the arc was still new having a lot of discussions about who that character could possibly be.

I also love the introduction of Shadowplay itself as a form of punishment and how ruthless the ruling class was before the war.
