Makes sense.
I assume going to Toronto by bus takes forever? And come to think of it, how faster is train travel compared to car?

Not much faster, if at all.
The main advantage of train-over-car is really the comfort part.

Yeah, just checked viarail.ca and shortest trip is 8.5hrs. Definitely not much faster!

Re: The Montreal/Quebec Local Fans Banter Thread
Via Rail never is the best route.
Not only do they do a lot of stops, but you have to be there at least 45 minutes to an hour in advance. So the whole ordeal takes almost half the day (It's like flying out to the West Coast). I did it once and ONLY once for a casual trip to Toronto, I learned it was an expensive and pointless route.
Honestly, if you ain't going by car or plane, your trip is pretty much balls to get there. Grey Hound is also 6-7 hours and they charge more for luggage so don't expect to get some fancy big items for your suitcase.
Even if you don't have a car, your better off RENTING one then going by train/plain and bus has some negatives too.
And if you don't have a license...................... well then you can always go to Otakuthon....................... yeah......... (shit show)

Thanks for the info. I'm asking out of curiosity to maybe plan a casual trip to Ontario later in the year.
Seems to me that going by plane would be the best lowest price/shortest time combination?
I'm not a huge fan of driving super long distance, so going by car would be my last option. that's why I thought about train, but then it's doesn't seem that less expensive than going by plane and takes almost as long as with a car.

Well the drive to west Toronto (Kitchener) is at MOST 6 hours when your doing 110km. It's only when you hit the last 30 minutes on the 401 you might snag some Toronto traffic.
Flight is good but then you have to factor an expensive cab ride from the Airport which sadly is not like the old TFcon location at the Doubletree that had a FREE SHUTTLE

Yeah. I looked that part up this year since I flew; it's $50 each way between the Pearson airport and the Delta Meadowvale.
I was fortunate enough to have cannabisprime from here pick me up, and CobraCommander from here drop me off.

Depends on when you leave. I've had to take the train to Toronto for my company. An Express ride (if you can get one) is a 4-hour trip.

Im only heading to Otakuthon this year since im more into anime (and Jojo's Bizarre adventure is -huge- this year on tumblr and whatever's big on tumblr, will totes show up at the con) more than mainstream comics, (the only thing I really picked up at Comiccon last time i went was so-so priced transformers) While at the weebfest I have to be put on a budget after last year i spent 250$ on Pokemon merch.
edit: with TFcon I rather just take an overnight bus or something and sleep off the 7-8 hour drive. But i'll have to check rates and grab some buddies who are sort-of interested in Transformers to come along with me.
