Just to be clear though, how many of these fansprojects have come about? I saw a Perceptor set 3 figures, Rodimus armor, the Insecticons. What else is there?
Are these available at 'cons and expos like the Action Figure Expo next month?
the reflector is from a different company (perfect effect, they're well known for their updates of the cassettes)

fansproject has released:
Cliffjumper upgrade (three faces, two guns, head, body kit, and spoiler)
Ctiy commander (ultra magnus armor for target exclusive white prime repaint)
powered and shadow commander (diaclone and black repaints of the above set)
protector (rodimus armor)
Shadow scythe (black repaint of protector)
Superion upgrade for energon/rotf superion set
snowman kit (white repaint of the superion set, more g1 accurate)
Defender (triple changing springer)
Munitioner and Explorer (a proper swindle and blast off and combiner parts for rotf/energon bruticus)
Warcry (repaint of swindle's mold to homage Growl)
flameblast (repaint of blast off's mold to homage fireshot)
Thundershred, Stormbomb, and Backfirey (insecticons)
also coming is a broadside, some junkions, rumored menasor, and heartmaster (no character connection for him)

You see, for copyright reasons (and as part of a more or less truce with Has/Tak) 3rd party products don't use officials transformer logos or names. The names these companies pick (Defender, Elegy, Scouting Force, Thundershred, etc.) are difficult to remember and keep "straight" in your mind. For that reason most fans call them "not-[TF name]", as in Not-Springer, Not-Dirge, Not-Reflector, Not-Shrapnel, etc.

So when someone says "Not-Springer" they mean a third party product based on Springer.

Again, remember collectors are a small part of Hasbro's market which they can't provide exclusive service to - so they don't seem to mind third party companies servicing that market with products which Hasbro would never consider making because the economics just aren't there for them - so long as they keep their head down and aren't too overt in their infringement..

Most likely but you might want to be in the dealer room early as I'm sure they'll sell out quickly.

I'm not sure if Backfiery will be within the shipping window since it's still not officially released...fingers crossed tho.

Speaking of fingers crossed, I'd love FP to do repaints of these guys into Chopshop, Barrage and Ransack!!!

Me too, although I'm hoping for a slight remold ! Poor Venom though...think they'd make a new mold for him, or just leave him out?

Hope you realize the figures themselves are not all that cheap.

Also, you might want to check out site sponsor automaton toys - they may still be taking orders on the "not-insecticons".

Re: Fansproject Causality "Insecticons"

Hasbro has probably made it more difficult to defend their position now, if it ever did get to court, due to the fact that they chose not to protect their IP when all of this third party nonsense started. As long as most of the third party companies skirt the line and don't cross it (coughIgearcough), or somehow get their products in regular stores, I think they're content to just let it be.
