nothing. If they ever get your item in you can then still go pick it up. If you know its well past the release date talk to the manager and they can help you get one sent from another store. If they do end up fully cancelling your order they 5$ will just be on your account and you can either use it as store credit for another item or added to a gift card. If you talk to a manager they might be able to do a refund to your actual credit card.

They arent just going to steal your money.

yeah like others have said, instore pickup doesn't actually have an option for email notification. I would say the chance of whether or not they call you depends on your own gamestop store, as the workers are the ones who call you. If you think the workers are competent and wouldn't sell your preorder by mistake then you shouldn't have any issue with instore pickup. For example, my gamestop employees are pretty great and I always receive a call for my preorders. I would still keep an eye on the release date on their website and check these threads to see if your figure has been showing up in stores. If so, then making a trip to your gamestop wouldn't hurt just to be extra careful.

Awesome thanks! I'm not too familiar with the competency of my Gamestop's staff so I'll have to wait and see. I'm okay paying attention to sightings and maybe checking the store availability from the site when the page is available for the item as that's helped me get the jump on some figures before.

If I start realizing I'm not getting called I'll consider other options for pre-order.

Same, I had a pre-order for an item and did not get called this week.

I called and they had it in stock but at least it was reserved for me but didn't call me yet.

I can't blame them tho they are probably busy or schedule callbacks at end of day or whenever it is not busy so it can be missed.

I've just been checking the threads for sightings or pickups and when they are reported I'll call and see if they have it in or not.

It would be nice if there was an automated email or something they could send but this was my first pre-order so I don't know what to expect.

To be fair, when they receive they stock in the store, they also have to slap a price sticker on it before even getting to the point of calling people who pre-ordered.

Both game stops I deal with are fantastic.

Smart Center in Langley and Lougheed Mall for any BC guys who are having trouble actually getting their orders.

Lougheed calls me when there are new pre orders to ask if I want them and neither store have failed to call when something comes in.

Same here. I guess it's store by store in terms of the service. If it isn't going well, go to another store.
