I'm wondering, would you base which one you bought off someone telling you if it was or not? I mean if you can't even tell why does it matter?

I don't know...I prefer the grey Classics version better. The paint apps, or lack there of, on Henkei/2.0 is more G1 accurate and looks better in jet mode, I'll agree.

Re: Classics Starscream vs Universe Starscream

I bought the new Universe SS the other day but only because it was $10, it looks alright but I still prefer the Henkei. Still leaps and bounds better then the Classics release I'll give it that but I really don't like the "powdered sugar* white they used on it (which is also why I was let down by the Hasbro MP SS). Only thing the Universe version might come in handy for is I might use the missile launchers for my Henkei one. But ya that's my overall thoughts on him, a much needed improvement over the original Classic's but still not as good as the Henkei in my view, but for $10 VS $25+ it's way better value that's for damn sure.

Universe SS looks unfinished to me... The Classics 1.0 version, although not accurate, was more interesting imo. Henkei is still the best, especially in jet mode.

Re: Classics Starscream vs Universe Starscream

Hey rid,

Are you taking care of Black Convoy? Have you been able to launch the missiles accorss the room yet?

I own the Classics version of SS, I almost bought the Henkei version last month and I lined up at TRU the other day to buy the pasty white 2.0 version but I had a change of heart and returned him to his peg. My reasoning is:

If you are looking for an updated version of Starscream then the Classics line is the way to go.

If you're looking for hyper anime-accuracy (at least in terms of paint and decos) then Henkei is for you.

If you are looking for an homage to the SS toy from the 80s then 2.0 is the ticket.

My focus right now is on the Classics line, with the exception of the Henkei version of Megatron (the Nerf blaster colours of the Classics version didn't do it for me) and Classics SS fits better with the updated paint schemes and welcome inaccuracies of the rest of my TFs.

So it depends what you are into, unless you're a completist then they're all for you!

Re: Classics Starscream vs Universe Starscream

Thanks all for the replies.
I was hesitating to get Universe SS coz he's only $10 at my local TRU. But from what you guys have been saying, there's no real added value to him. Henkei would be much better (anime accuracy and metal, etc.), tho more expensive.

I'll take it you're kidding right? coz seibertron is the "correct" spelling, in the Japanese continuity.

How do you guys figure that? Do you mean as a toy in itself? If so, I don't understand... aren't they the same mold?

Or do you mean the colors being anime accurate? Or what?

He's in very good hands... And no man, I can't shoot the missiles yet. Maybe it's because I'm having it upright instead of sideways. Anyway, I will keep at it until it works.

I also got my hands on Cyclonus. And for $10 from TRU. sweet!!!

I don't think there is any metal/diecast on the Henkei Starscream... just a few chrome parts.

I don't know... if you can find the Universe version @ any TRU tomorrow it will be only $10. Consider the Henkei is at least $25-$30 the Universe version is a bargain

Re: Classics Starscream vs Universe Starscream

I have both Classic Starscream and Universe Starcsream and I enjoyed both of them, love the g1 style of the universe, plus this time, his face is painted and the red paint seems more thicker than the classic, and love the classic for the more updated look and nice paint design. Both are proudly displayed on my shelf.

Wow... that was very helpful!

Someone who's seen, or has both on hand, can better advise me better than any set of pics I see on the web.

And yeah, from what I can tell, the Henkei's the better one. Excuse me if I just want to be sure since I can't see a Universe version for myself because no store in my area is putting it on a shelf.

Thanks for your concern, though.
