Really? After seeing him at that last press conference I knew he wouldn't make it to September .
I always disagreed with his politics, and I have no strong feelings about his death, but his family and friends have my sympathies.

Poor Jack. He was taken from us too early.

Re: RIP Jack Layton...
While I mean no disrespect to anyone else in or out of office, Jack Layton is probably the only politician that I ever cared about in my lifetime, so I think it goes without saying that he'll be missed.
Also for what it's worth, I know he looked bad at his last outing & that suddenly taking a turn for the worse because of Cancer isn't anything new, However at the same time, a death like this can still be a shocker when it happens, especially when it's affects people that we care about, and especially when we're doing everything we can to look on the positive side.

Re: RIP Jack Layton...
I was in Ottawa for a trip and was fortunate enough to be able to pay my respects to Jack Layton while he lied in state. The doors were opened for the public around noon; it took the girlfriend and I approximately two hours to get in. The lineup was quite the sight snaking from the front of the central building and around the back of the east building on the Hill. Some of the members of the NDP caucus were actually going down the lineup thanking people for coming, saying it was the least they could do for people who showed up; at one point, Ms. Chow and the rest of the family also went and thanked some of the people before they went back to their limos.
It seems everyone that you talked to really admired and respected Jack Layton regardless of their political background which says a lot about character of the man.
RIP Jack.

Re: RIP Jack Layton...
Just watched the funeral on CBC; quite well done.
Best wishes, Jack.
