Re: BC Community Thread For Non-Sightings Chat

Not to that extent, but there are some I wanted and sold off again eventually because I'm just not feeling them anymore. Mostly it was 'I GOTTA HAVE IT/SOMETHING NEW' and then I realized it's not such a great figure.

Some I've barely touched since I got them though, to where I forget how to transform it... but if it's a really cool design or a character I care about, I usually keep them.

Items that come to mind are Amazon.om Jet Wing Optimus Prime, Human Alliance Barricade, RTS G2 Prime, Generations Ultimate Gift Set G2 Jazz, Universe Nemesis Prime and FoC Shockwave. All obtained at a premium, only to be sold off soon after. Thankfully that 'phase' is over and my collection is more manageable.

Anyone else collect that/going through that kind of phase?
I buy but cannot let myself purge for some reason. This kind of sucks as I will keep running out of space. I think most people regret buying Bayverse transformers.

I think in my new place, I will display my G1s, Classics/3P, Masterpieces, Alternators, BW, RID and then will see if I have room for TF lines after RID.

Maybe my purge is to bestow my son with all the Bayverse toys since they are worthless

Re: BC Community Thread For Non-Sightings Chat

I am pretty selective in what I buy and collect.

My Bayverse collection is fairly limited to leader class and only a select few of good voyager and dlx figure. But my collection really took off with Generations and RTS when they were found at Winner, XS Cargo, and LD for cheap. I am not into army building, but it doesn't help that I got at least 6 or 7 FOC Starscream mold during sales so I can customize them into various rainmakers/seekers

For Gunpla, I mostly just buy MG Zeon MS.
For others, I usually just buy the most iconic character. My first and only Hot Toys (so far) is the Classic Predator. My only Play Art Kai is Heath Ledger's Joker.

OK, not to get all bi-polar with my subjects here but in between feeding my addiction to "Arrested Development" and "Homeland" on Netflix I finally managed to watch the Robert Rodriguez produced sequel to "Predator", aptly-named "Predators". Gotta say I was pretty impressed despite the obvious fan service via the numerous homages to the original. I even thought the 'Alien' - 'Aliens' connection was clever. Most of all I appreciated that it completely ignores the AvP series.

Gotta say I thought Adrien Brody's Academy Award-boosted career took a nose dive (no pun intended) when I watched him f*ck that genetic hybrid chick in "Splice" so it was great to see him pretend to be Ahnuld and be somewhat good at it.

I watched Elysium and Kick Ass 2 on Saturday, but I was most impressed by the Mechete Kills trailer. Pretty sure Mechete could take on the Predators on his own.

^Danny Trejo was very subdued as a Mexican drug cartel member in "Predators". If he was playing Machete he would've taken them all down singlehandedly.

I'm somewhere in between. Typically I get what I get because I really like it and will keep it. But I also have a lot of impulse buys (usually because it's on sale/clearance or due to lulls in releases which makes anything new that comes out "desirable") which I end up letting go for a lot less later. I will get rid of some stuff that I really like later on just to make some room or because I found something better to replace it.

This is my philosophy as well. If there's something that I like about a figure I'll pick it up but I don't buy figures just to complete a line. Sadly, I find myself skipping out on a lot of characters simply b/c Hasbro hasn't been providing enough bang for my buck and/or certain figures never make it to our retailers. More often than I not I walk out of TRU empty handed and my wife will be asking me 2-3 times "are you sure you don't want anything?" It's going to get her in trouble one day, haha.

Thankfully I still have and love all of the toys I've collected so far, although I think that a small purge may be in my future, especially with the awesome MPs coming up soon (buh-bye BotCon 2013 exclusives!). Space isn't so much of an issue for me because there's no one else in my house to complain if I leave toys in the living room/kitchen/bedroom/etc. Need more money to keep fueling this addiction.
